## Description

**A drop-in replacement for vorp_character.** Your characters stand in real locations across the map, the camera glides between them, and players pick who they are playing today from a screen that looks like the opening of a film rather than a list.

**Every character on screen at once**, plus an empty slot to make a new one. Each card shows name, age, job, money, gold and playtime, and each character remembers the pose you left it in. Deleting one asks the player to type the character's name first, so nobody loses a year of roleplay to a misclick.

**Players set up the screen their own way** and it is saved for them. Light or dark theme, cinematic or classic menu, weather and time override, framing presets for full body, upper body, head or legs, zoom and rotation, camera orbit and height, 38 photo mode filters, cinematic bars, music and sound effects.

**Pair up with a partner.** Search for another player, send a request, and their character stands beside yours on the selection screen as a couple or as friends. 8 couple poses and 12 friend poses, including real paired animations, with the camera framing both characters automatically. Admins can fine-tune partner positions live in game and the change reaches every player instantly.

**Build your own selection locations.** The Scene Creator opens in game with a free camera and walk mode. Set the time, the weather and the opening establishing shot, place character slots each with their own camera, drag characters into position with a 3D handle, pose them from 300+ emotes, and add props, wagons and NPCs. Export the scene to the config or keep it live in the database. No coordinates typed by hand.

**Everything from vorp_character still works.** The original character creator, the clothing stores and outfits are all included and behave as before, your existing characters show up as normal, and the database tables are created on first start, so there is no SQL to import.

## Features

- **A Drop-In for vorp_character**: It replaces vorp_character rather than running beside it, and reads the same VORP character data, so the characters already on your server are the characters that appear. The original creator, the clothing stores and the outfits come with it and behave as they did.
- **The Camera Travels, It Does Not Cut**: Characters stand in real places on the map and the shot moves between them, so choosing who to play reads as an opening sequence rather than as picking a row from a list. Thirteen locations ship ready to use.
- **Every Character, and the Empty Slot**: All of a player's characters are on screen at once, with the empty slot for the next one beside them. How many that can be follows the limit already set in vorp_core rather than a second one kept here. Each card carries name, age, job, money, gold and playtime.
- **Deleting Asks for the Name**: A character is months of somebody's roleplay, so removing one is not a button press: the player types the character's first name before it goes. That is the whole safeguard, and it is why a misclick cannot cost anyone anything.
- **Couples and Friends, Side by Side**: Search another player by name or id and send a request. Once they accept, their character stands beside yours on the selection screen. Eight couple poses and twelve friend poses, real paired animations rather than two solo ones placed near each other, and the camera reframes to hold both.
- **The Screen Is Theirs, Not the Server's**: Theme, menu layout, button style, weather, time of day, framing from full body down to head or legs, zoom, rotation, camera orbit and height, and thirty-eight photo filters. Every one of them is per player and remembered, so the screen somebody set up for themselves is the one they come back to.
- **Eight Slots, Eight Cameras**: A scene holds up to eight character slots and each one carries its own camera, which is what lets a location frame one character tightly and the next one wide. Characters are dragged into position with a handle in three dimensions and posed from a library of over three hundred.
- **A Place, Not a Backdrop**: Each location carries its own time of day, weather and music, the establishing shot it opens on, and a path the camera can travel along. Benches, chairs and stools snap a seated character into place rather than leaving them hovering.
- **VORP Only, Said Before You Buy**: This one is built for VORP Core and nothing else. It reads VORP's character data and stands in for VORP's own character resource, so there is no RSG or RedEM:RP build of it. Everything else in this shop runs on all four cores; this is the exception, and it is better said here than discovered later.
- **Playtime, Starter Kit and the Tidy-Up**: Playtime is counted and shown on the card. New characters can be handed starter items and weapons where vorp_inventory is installed. Delete a character and the rows belonging to it go too, and Discord webhooks cover creation, login, logout and deletion.
- **Three Config Files, No SQL**: Settings sit in config_selector.lua, config_scenecreator.lua and animations.lua, commented where a choice is not obvious, with a server owner guide and a developer guide in the download. The database tables are made on first start, so there is no SQL file to import.

## Dependencies

- **vorp_core** (required): The framework this is built on and the only one it runs on. The selector reads VORP's character data and stands in for vorp_character, so there is no version of this for RSG or RedEM:RP.
- **vorp_menu and vorp_inputs** (required): VORP's own menu and text-input resources, which the selection screen and the character creator use. Both ship with a normal VORP install, so a server already running VORP has them.
- **oxmysql** (required): The database layer. There is no SQL file to import: the tables this needs are created the first time the resource starts.
- **weathersync** (required): What the per-scene weather and time of day are set through. A location that opens at dusk in a storm is asking weathersync for it rather than setting the sky itself.
- **vorp_inventory** (optional): Only for handing a new character starter items and weapons. Leave it out and character creation still works; there is simply nothing in their hands at the end of it.

## FAQ

**Is this a replacement for vorp_character, or does it sit alongside it?**

A replacement. You back up vorp_character, put this in its place and restart. It reads the same character table VORP already writes, so every character on the server is still there, and the creator, the clothing stores and the outfits come with it.

**Will my players lose their characters?**

No. Nothing is migrated and nothing is rewritten: the characters are read from the VORP data they already live in. What changes is the screen they are chosen from.

**Can I run it on RSG Core or RedEM:RP?**

No, and not as a matter of testing. It replaces a VORP resource and reads a VORP table, so there is nothing on an RSG or RedEM:RP server for it to attach to. VORP Core only.

**Is there an SQL file to import?**

No. The tables it needs are created the first time the resource starts, so installing is the folder, the dependencies and a restart.

**How many characters can one player have?**

Whatever vorp_core is already set to allow. The limit is not duplicated here, so there is nothing to keep in step: the selector shows that many slots plus an empty one for making the next character.

**Can I build my own selection locations?**

Yes, in game. The Scene Creator gives you a free camera and a walk mode, up to eight character slots each with its own camera, a handle for dragging characters into position and over three hundred poses to put them in. No coordinates are typed by hand. Keep the result live in the database or export it into the config.

**Who is allowed into the Scene Creator and the pose editor?**

The VORP groups you name in the config, which is admin until you change it. The partner pose editor can additionally be gated by ace, if that is how your server already does permissions.

**What does the partner system actually do?**

It puts two players' characters on one selection screen. One searches for the other by name or id and sends a request; once it is accepted their character stands alongside, in one of eight couple poses or twelve friend poses, with the camera reframing to hold them both.

**Which languages does the menu come in?**

English, German, Spanish, French, Dutch, Russian and Japanese are complete, with Italian and Romanian partial. Every string the selector draws is in the config, as are the keys, so a language that is not there is a file you can write rather than a change you have to request.

**Does the interface hold up at 1440p and 4K?**

It scales to the screen rather than being drawn at one size and stretched, so it stays sharp at 1080p, 1440p and 4K.

**Do players have to download anything?**

No. It starts like any other resource on your server and reaches players the way the rest of your resources do.
